According to, currently the safest neighborhood in the San Antonio metro area is Timberwood Park.  This community boasts a crime index of 94 (100 being the safest).

The community is located north of Loop 1604 just east of Blanco Road, and is also accessible from Hwy 281.  The general area is semi-rural, but most residents feel it is worth the commute from San Antonio proper.  Homes in this neighborhood currently start at $179,000, and the average minimum home site is 1/2 acre in size.  The neighborhood is mainly made up of custom-built  homes and there are currently 78 available for sale.
