The Grand Canyon Railroad provides a train ride to over a quarter of a million people each year. The Grand Canyon has over four million visitors each year, either traveling there by car, train or a tour bus. The average person stays at the Grand Canyon for about 2 1/2 hours. Many people like to hike the Canyon or take a mule train down the Bright Angel Trail. Williams provides lodging, meals and local entertainment to everyone who visits our quaint little town.

On the 4th of July we will reinact a picture that was taken 100 years ago in down town Williams. People will dress in period costume for the picture and then another picture will be taken in our current mode of dress. We welcome youto join in the fun and become part of history in the making. The picture will be taken at high noon on the 4th of July. You can also enjoy the other small town festivities, such as an old fashioned ice cream social, a local parade and other family oriented activities. The Grand Canyon Railroad leaves daily from our little community, winding it’s way through the scenic countryside and delivering guests to our Majestic Grand Canyon. Real Estate in northern Arizona is still desirable especially when the temperatures rise in other places. Williams is a welcome retreat from the heat.

Record numbers of single women are buying homes. If you’re a single woman who wants to buy a house, the good news is the market is wide open for you. The stats from the Joint Center for Housing Studies say:

·More than one in five home buyers is a single woman.
·Twice as many unmarried women are buying homes than single men.
·Single women make up more than one-third of the growth in real estate ownership since 1994

Times are changing. In 1970 when I was a single, self employed, female, the lenders just laughed at me when I tried to apply for a loan to purchase a home. At that time, women were considered a risk because we might become pregnant. My only choice was to find a home where the loan could be assumed and with the seller agreeing to carry back part of the note as a second mortgage. This, of course, is not available in today’s marketplace.

Today, things are different. Women want to be property owners, but they just don’t know how to go about it. There are also down payment assistance programs available for first time home buyers, and with the up to $8000 income tax credit becoming available, it can be possible for you to now own your own home.

We come in all sizes, some of us are widowed, divorced, never married, single, or just starting out on our own, but please remember that, as my Great Grandmother once said, ” No, never killed anybody, so go ahead and ask”! Speaking from one woman to the multitudes of women who want to be home owners, just ask.
