CNBC study examines 10 categories, which include workforce, to measure each state’s ability to attract businesses. In 2008 Florida ranked number one and fell to the number 3 ranking in 2009, hence in 2010 Florida regained the number one ranking. Gov. Charlie Crist said, “We are committed to creating a highly skilled, innovative workforce across all industry sectors, and we take great pride in her role our workforce plays in driving Florida’s business into the 21st century.”
Additional indicators that CNBC reviews include the education level of the workforce, the number of available workers, union membership and the relative success of each state worker training program in placing participants in jobs. The workforce ranking is one of the you most significant categories, however the cost of doing business in a state and the quality of life is very important in determining each state’s total score.
