There is a proposed “change in the rules” to help in the process for Veterans, who are using their VA Home Loan Benefit to apply &  purchase a home.

At this time Veterans who are applying are not allowed to pay for their own Pest Inspection during the negotiations and buying process-this in turn makes the process more complicated in the negotiations with the seller; who may not be willing to pay for this additional fee.  In the case if the property is an REO (Bank-Owned) the Lender would typically be picking up the charge.

The comittee , National Association Of REALTORS(TM)’ Federal Housing Policy Commitee, is seeking legislative action through Congress to lift the ban and “allow VA borrowers to negotiate all fees and closing costs.”
