The Obama Administration has floated a novel solution for the nation’s 284,000 foreclosed homes {REO}. (Of those properties, approximatley 70,000 are currently “active” on the market.) The administration has proposed of turning these properties into RENTALS. This will result in tightening the properties for sale inventory and add units to a much needed rental inventory.
The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), the US Department Of The Treasury, & the Department Of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) have officially announced they are seeking our opinion through a “REQUEST FOR INFORMATION”. Citizens, yes, you and me, are encouraged to file their reccomendations and to offer their ideas in how to solve our housing crises at the Housing Finance Website:

Former CEO & Founder of “ FORSALEBYOWNER.COM”, Colby Sambrotto, after 6 months has given up on selling his New York 2,000 sq. ft. condominium. For 6 monthe Mr. Sambrotto utilized the standard online FSBO classified outlets; with no success. After hiring Mr. Jesse Buckler, who advised Mr. Sambrotto, on a price change, the property sold for $150,000.00 more over the original asking price. (The listing sold for $2.15 million)
* The Punta Gorda, Port Charlotte, North Port Board Of Realtors’ statistics indicate that in the last 6 months of tracked sales of Multiple Listing (MLS) properties that have sold vs. For Sale By Owner (FSBO) properties sold-the average MLS property sold for $35,191.00 more than the FSBO.
According to Herman Chan, an AGBeat Columnist: “Well over 80% of FSBO’s eventualyy have to list with an realestate agent to get their house sold. It’s harder than it looks!”

The Pentagon Federal Credit Union Foundation (a non-profit national organization) through its Dream Makers Program, is offering financial assistance for Veterans who are first time homebuyers.
Active Duty personnel, Veterans, Retired Members of the Military, Employees of the Dept. of Defense & the Dept. of Homeland Security may be eligible for the housing down payment & closing cost grant of $5,000.00 if buying their first home. The grant monies may be applied to any mortgage and/or closing costs issued by any financial institution.
Many members of the military put off buying a home because they might not have adequate funds for the down payment as they are moving around quite a bit early in their careers. This grant creates immediate equity (however small) and helps to fund the downpayment and closing costs of the Veteran who is applying for the loan; at a time when coming up with $5000.00 may be an added difficulty/or a deal breaker.
Requirements:
1. Military Affiliation: Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard, Veteran, Employee of Dept. of Defense or Homeland Security
2. First Time Homebuyer or has not owned a home for the last 3 years or a home was “lost” due to divorce or disaster.
3. Gross husehold income, including all allowances used to qualify for a mortgage, is a maximum of $55,000.00 per year or 80% of a community’s median income based on family size demographics.
You may view the full eligibility requirements @ www.pentagonfoundation.org/dreammakers
