You can’t win if you don’t play…

I remember hearing this for the first time when I was kid…  It’s been a mantra of sorts, because it’s true – if you don’t try you won’t ever get anyplace. Sometimes it doesn’t work out, but sometimes it does. When it’s right it’s right. That’s why it’s a great idea to consider, just consider, getting a raffle ticket for this amazing house in Redondo Beach. I’m not a contest person, usually, but I am a believer in trying, and because of this, I have been very blessed!  Someone out there is meant to have this house for $100. Maybe it’s you!

Spring has sprung…kinda

Are you amazed, looking at the reports of the snow-buried midwest and upper east coast? Or…oops… are you IN it?? It is hard to imagine such hardship, living here in Redondo Beach  just blocks from the Pacific Ocean, flip-flopped feet on the balcony bannister, watching the waves lap the shore, sipping tea and catching some warm California sun. Every day.

I realize there are many beautiful places in the world, I just happen to know a lot about this one. That is why I sell real estate here because I really believe you should be here. It’s my place of choice. I’ve been everywhere else.  Even beautiful Florida.  Nothing feels as good as this moment… And all I can do is wish you were here!

There are a few ways for you to get here. On vacation of course, but once you come here you will want to live here, guaranteed. Don’t let the paper fool you, there are abundant opportunities in California. This is a people place, and if “who you know” is key, well, I can see you now with a zillion new friends and a great tan.

And did you know - what a ‘kwinky dink’ –  we are raffling off a house. Now how great would this be? You buy a raffle ticket for $100. Of course, it is the winning ticket. The house is won and yours. People are so impressed by your Redondo house they offer you a fabulous job in just the field you wanted. You can even telecommute. And here I am, waving at you from across the street…

You are from here you say? Well then you have no excuse, you KNOW how great it is. And this is your chance to own a beach house and be the envy of all your Glendale friends.

Now, how cool is that?

Redondo on a course for recovery

Do you feel it too? Something in the air. More people working, moving forward. Revising lifestyles to gain more freedom  and get better situated. We’ve been receiving increasing calls from buyers and sellers alike and the “patient” (economy) is reviving from a long journey into the abyss.  Conked over the head is what it seemed like.  Now there is a returning pulse.

What’s great is to see the creative ways people have been managing. We told you last time about the free house raffle now underway. to take place in May, which will help a seller and the Civic Light Orchestra of South Beach Cities. Many people have pulled up stakes and relocated to where there are jobs. Not every industry is hurting, and even California has jobs in certain fields.  The way many people succeeded in the original depression was to buy properties, if they were able. Because property will one day be the new gold standard, something that will regain in strength even as the dollar loses value. Real Estate. Real value. This is a great time to buy.

What you might not know is that it doesn’t matter where you are, I have a national network of friends and teammates that care as much as I do about giving you the best assistance with your house as possible. We also have a network of first rate handi-people, painters, electricians, exterminators, landscapers to help push you closer to that point of hanging out a for sale sign. ‘Do it yourself’ is great for saving money, but I have seen that when it comes to getting your own house ready for sale, projects seem to go on forever. Opportunities may be lost just by doing it yourself.  And you may not concentrate on the things that are most important for adding true value to the sales price. So don’t hesitate to contact me to discuss your needs, even if they aren’t well formed yet. I can help. Just call me direct at the number to the left.

Win a Beautiful Beach House in Southern California! No, We’re Not Kidding!

This has been a long time in the making, but a great house in Redondo Beach, Ca is being raffled off in May. The tickets are just $100 each, so some people are buying multiple tickets, giving them away as gifts, bonuses – it’s so exciting to be part of all this. The proceeds of the raffle are to benefit the Civic Light Orchestra of South Bay Cities which is located not far from the raffle house. Even people from out of state hoping to relocate (in style!) are getting tickets. Tell everyone you know… it’s for a winning cause and you know how the saying goes… you can’t win if you don’t play!

Selling your house? Bury a saint.

A friend of ours decided to sell his house recently. There was another job opportunity in another part of the country, so he started researching everything he could about angels, opportunity, good luck (he already had the best realtor!) Then someone told him about burying a saint – not a real saint but a statue of St. Joseph in their yard to hasten up the home sale. Now, this sounds fantastic, but some people really swear it works.

According to’s article, ”Selling Your House? Bury a Saint,” Stephen J. Binz, author of “St. Joseph, My Real Estate Agent,” came to believe it was true. ”His own house had been on the market for seven long months. Upon the advice of his Presbyterian real estate agent, Binz buried a St. Joseph statue in his yard.”  He thought is was rediculous but he was willing to try anything to hasten the sale. A week later he had an offer and sold his house.

Nothing can take the place of a good realtor, but whatever we can do as a team to hasten the process and bring better results can’t be bad! As a matter of fact, do you know anyone who would be interested in selling their home if they had a strong offer, even though they’re not quite ready to list their home? This is what’s called a “pocket listing”.  We network these aggressively within our RE/MAX internal organization.  Sellers get an “off market” opportunity to sell their home.  This is fast and oftentimes gets the highest price.  If you know anyone considering selling, please point them in my direction.  RE/MAX has buyers that need homes.  Privacy is always respected.

Selling a home now…

According to Mike Aubrey from HGTV’s “Real Estate Intervention,” if you’re trying to sell a home in a down housing market …it is vital that you have two things in order to be successful: You have to be priced right, and you have to look good,” Aubrey said. While new carpet and paint may not be enough in all cases, and people can be strapped financially at these times, Aubrey has some great ideas in the complete CNN article.

No time like the present….

My friend’s father was an amazing man. He would gather the family up and move them all to some ‘out of the way’ area like San Diego, LaJolla in fact, when it was rolling hills filled with desert scrub, and nothing around for a kid to do. Later,  in his own understated way, he would laugh as his little $75,000 home became worth $1M +.

He passed a few years ago but I can still almost see him smile over  house prices now in outstanding areas like Redondo Beach, and other desirable Los Angeles communities.  He would encourage people to buy (or sell) soon because someplace in his “sixth sense” (and having a degree in economics didn’t hurt) he would know the housing market was ready to come up. He knew a good deal when he saw it and wouldn’t hesitate to seize the opportunity.  He wasn’t afraid to move contrary to the crowd, without fear.  He died a wealthy man.

We can’t all be Tony Adrean, but in our own way, within our means, we too can find the right opportunities for growth starting right now. I can help not only with listings, either buying or selling, but also explaining the special opportunities available to you in this unique time.

“True courage is not the absence of fear—but the willingness to proceed in spite of it.” Author Unknown. I really believe this is true. So let’s go!

Now that the dust is settling on 2010, it’s time to turn our thoughts back to the future – not the one that seems to be relentlessly painted by the media, but our futures, the ones we generate from the inside. Because we are all unique, not a statistic generated by – who knows. Each of our needs are unique. So, whether you have grown out of a home or desire to downsize, relocate, invest, or you need to just step out of that reality for awhile and regroup, I am here to help.

The greatest thing about America is that we never take “no” for an answer. Even in the hardest of times we get up, dust ourselves off, and keep pursuing our dreams.  I am your total advocate for change. In the dictionary, resolution is defined as “the mental state or quality of being resolved or resolute; firmness of purpose.”  Things in life happen when you become resolved. There is no time like the present to resolve to buy that new home you’ve always wanted; As I listen tonight to the fireworks on the beach, ringing in the new year next to a warm fire with good friends and family, I can think of no better place to enjoy life than Redondo Beach, California.

Here’s a list of links to show you a few of the things happening in Redondo this weekend. Have a happy and safe new year! And come on down to Redondo and let me show you why people love this place so much…
