Pensacola, the Once Well Kept Secret

Monday, January 26th, 2009

Pensacola and Perdido Key Florida communities were once well kept secrets from the rest of the country and the world. Pensacola community’s beaches are some of the most beautiful you will find without leaving the states. High rise condominiums sprinkle the western coastline to Alabama, east of Perdido Key Dr. are currently single family subdivision communities, a few low-mid rise condos then striking undeveloped coastline with the Gulf of Mexico on the south side and the Intracoastal Waterway on the north.

For golfers there are multiple courses dotted throughout the Pensacola community. If you want more variety Lower Alabama courses are just an approximate 20 minutes from Perdido Key.

Looking to move from the icy throws of mid-western and New England winters? Go to my Pensacola home search found on the right-hand column of my blog. Find your new primary home or vacation property in the Pensacola community. Other information on the site refer to schools, hospitals, government agencies, NAS Pensacola, Naval and VA Hospitals and more.

Downtown in the Pensacola community is the cultural hub with the Saenger Theatre, Pensacola Cultural Center, Art Shows, Museums, your choice of restaurants and more.

February brings the Mardi Gras Parade, March is the Circle of Life Festival, April is the “infamous” Mullet Toss at the Florabama Lounge on Perdido Key (Florida and Alabama Line)- literally.

For the outdoors person there are plenty of things to do in the Pensacola community such as, fishing, boating, walking, swimming, running and volunteering in our parks such as Big Lagoon.

Living in the Panhandle is the best of all worlds because of its location. Within minutes you can be in Alabama, 3 ½ hours to New Orleans, 5 ½ hours to Atlanta and 6 ½ to Nashville. We actually have different seasons. Winter can get cold in the community but not for long. At 60 degrees I’m already in a freeze mode; at 29 degrees I feel like hibernating. Of course in comparison to single digit temperatures without a wind chill I understand that neither is truly cold. Spring is around the corner and Pensacola will be in bloom, Summer brings the warm to hot days in the community and sultry nights perfect for swimming in your backyard pool or strolling along the beach. With Fall on the heels of September the humidity drops away, the sun sets differently and the sky becomes a different painting every evening.
