Selling Your Home: Tips to making your home warm and inviting in Spokane WA

Thursday, November 18th, 2010

When someone goes to look at a potential home they want it to be warm and inviting. Here are a few tips to make your home look more warm and inviting in Spokane, WA:

It rains a lot in Washington, make sure that your house is devoid of any moss or mold growing on the roof or siding of the house. This looks like a health hazard to someone that may not be from the area. If it is the winter time, make sure that you clear the walkway of any snow so that people can get to the front door without risking slipping on ice or getting their clothes wet from walking in the snow.

Eliminate any smells that may be considered odd. Light a good smelling candle or bake a pie to make the house smell like food. Eliminate any kind of waste, pet, or smoke smells. People will stay longer in the house if they cannot smell the trash on the side of the house or your cat box.

Don’t get emotional over the sale of your home. You put the house on the market for a reason. When people are making an offer on the house, they are not offering you money for the value of your memories, as those are priceless. They just want the foundation and the walls of your home. If you don’t feel like you can part with the memories of your home, try not being there when someone comes to look at it. Let your real estate agent do their job.

Shopping for your dream home in Spokane, WA

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010

Buying your dream home can be a daunting task. There are a few things to consider when shopping for that dream home in Spokane Washington.

Make sure to ask as many questions as you can of a seller. What appears to be your dream home may wind up being a dud. You can avoid spending a lot of unintended money by finding out as much as you can before the purchase. Ask about the age of the home, the last time plumbing and electrical systems were up dated, and always make sure to ask about asbestos hazards, and lead based paint. Many old homes have issues with lead paint and asbestos that will need to be fixed, it is always best to know as much about the property as possible.

Always try to haggle the price, even if you are already settled on buying the home. Few price tags on homes are absolute. If you show enough interest in a property, and mention it is just slightly out of your price the seller is likely to work with you on a deal that will work for both parties involved.

Don’t be afraid to shop around even when you think you may have found your dream home in Spokane, Washington. Even if your heart feels set on one property keep looking around you may find another one interests you as well. Making it known to the seller that you are shopping around may also entice them into offering you a deal.

Last of all, for the best buying process possible, make sure you have a great Realtor helping you navigate this buying process!
