Home Ownership Represents Quality of Life

Welcome to Olympia, the Capitol of Washington State, located in Thurston County which contains Lacey, Olympia, Tumwater, Yelm, Rochester, Tenino, Bucoda and Ranier. Thurston County currently has 1546 homes for sale listed through our NWMLS. The average sales price is $265,853. Last year the average price was $285,569. What does this mean to you?

Should I buy a home in Olympia?

If you are an Olympia home buyer, now you have the opportunity to purchase a home you may not have been able to afford to buy last year. Homes are on sale by an average of 6.9%. Still, you may say, “Should I buy a home now in Olympia?” Everyone needs to live somewhere. Rents are more expensive than ever. Home mortgage rates are at an all time low. Home ownership brings the joy of painting walls the colors you want and designing a restful backyard retreat and a place to barbeque and entertain friends. As always common sense should prevail.

Do I want to live in this beautiful place for 3-5 years? Do I have enough income to make my monthly house payment? Does my job look secure or do I have multiple job skills which will allow me to find new employment during a changing job market? How far do I have to drive to work? Some do commute to the Tacoma and Seattle job markets from here.

Historically most of the money made in the United States has been made through owning real estate. I firmly believe that in five years we will look back at 2009 as one of the best buying opportunities of the century. Home ownership represents quality of life, a safe haven retreat in the midst of a stressful world, a place to prepare nutritious, economical meals and share them with friends and family, a place for home entertainment and nurturing, a base for work with home based businesses. Invest in yourself and buy a home in Olympia now.
