Gulf Coast Oil Spill

Thanks A Lot B.P. – Enough is Enough!

” The Great Visit Florida Beach Walk”

It’s just about time that the general public, both here in the US and the Foreign Nationals, accept the unmitigated truth about what is really the status of Florida in the aftermath of BP’s gigantic debacle.

Take a look below – This is the real unvarnished truth of what our beaches look like, if in case, you are not interested in looking at all 825 miles to satisfy yourself as to the condition of what makes the State of Florida what it is.

Enough is Enough already!  Accept the truth, plan that vacation, book those rooms and come see why this place is called “Paradise”!  We’ll all be better for it!  The only way to put this issue in the “rear view mirror” is to accept reality and move forward and only take an occasional quick look back!  I’m tired of all this – aren’t you?

For some reason, now that the media is dispensing the real conditions of our beaches and estuaries, people don’t seem to pay any attention to the information.  Six months ago, all the public wanted to listen to was how bad it was in a few isolated areas and ascertain from that news snipit, that the whole state was inundated by a coating of petroleum debris.

The Tourist Season is upon us here in Florida and it is imparative that the world outside of Florida knows the real truth.  The Great Visit Florida Beach Walk is a coordinated effort by all the coastline counties to assemble volunteers to walk the entire 825 miles of Florida Beaches on Saturday, November 6th.  The volunteers will each walk one mile and take at least one picture which will be uploaded to the project website, thereby verifying pictorially, the actual condition of every mile of beach in Florida.  This aggressiive effort is designed to dispel the false rumors and exaggerated misrepresentations about how the State of Florida is under a coating of BP’s OIL.

We have “NO OIL” Anywhere, But Punta Gorda Real Estate Still Impacted.

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

Over 1oo days and we never had a drop of B.P.’s Oil on our beaches.  But we stil feel the negative impact of the overall devastation.

Here is a news video from Fox 4 News (the Ft. Myers, FL Affiliate) interviewing a local realtor regarding the impact on our Real Estate market.  Please click the article below:

Florida Realtors React to Oil Spill

For the  “What it’s Worth File”.   This whole media travesty regarding the BP
Oil Spill in the Gulf just completely baffles me.  I do not believe just how easily
manipulated and mis-informed people allow themselves to be.  The media
sensationalizes the information and the consumer just sits there and sucks it in!
Until the truth is recognized and accepted by the masses, we will have this
imposed problem hovering over the State of Florida.  It’s a crying shame!

Port Charlotte, Florida Inventor offers BP several solutions for “capping the blowout”!

Monday, July 12th, 2010

He didn’t just offer 1, he’s up to Option 4.  If this week’s efforts to “cap” the well fail – this may be “Next Week’s Plan”.

BP America had already received three of Mr. Frank Cicanese’s inventions, when Frank heard of BP’s decision not to replace the failed blowout preventer on the Deepwater Horizon well.  Mr. Cicanese is a Port Charlotte resident and a retired industrial design consultant.

Mr. Michael Cortez, Technical Manager for BP’s Alternative Response Technology Team, says that the company is concerned that the well may have sustained damage “below the mudline” and if the well is capped, the internal pressure within the well could force oil out the side somewhere below the sea floor.  It was that revelation that prompted Mr. Cicanese to design and create Option #4.

His latest design calls for a 200 ft. long needle-like stainless steel pipe with seals to be inserted into the blown well. He thinks that would strengthen the uppermost portion of the well and seal any leaks, at least within the first 200 ft.  His new design also includes a heavy-weight blow out preventer to bring the total weight to 157,000 pounds.  That is more than enough to sink the device into the well, even against the up to 20,000 pounds per inch of pressure that exists.  Mr. Cicanese said, “I got a call from Mr. Cortez.  He said he had the first three designs.  I told him, since there might be a possibility of damage to the casing below the mud-line, I’ve come up with Option 4”.

Mr. Cicanese is one of thousands that have submitted suggestions.  However, few of the submitters have his credentials.  In his career of over 50 years, Mr Cicanese, has designed solutions to industrial problems for some of the largest corporations in the world, including GM, Ford, Phillips Electornics, and RCA.  He also holds the only U.S. Patent for a device to cap oil wells in the Middle East.

I think that Mr. Frank Cicanese, who is voluntarily standing up and being counted, at a time of need, deserves a serious “Atta-Boy”.  In fact, if his invention is successfully used by BP to cap the Deepwater Horizon Well, Mr. Cicanese will undoubtedly go down in the history books and one of America’s true Heroes.

What OIL? Not in Punta Gorda, FL – We are clean as a Whistle!

Monday, July 5th, 2010

Maybe you will accept what the experts say!

We have been and we will continue to inform the public as the reality of any OIL Spill damage to the shores of Southwest Florida.  The media still has most of the vacationers and travelers, who would normally visit our little piece of paradise this time of year, confused and concerned as to the condition and propensity for oil coming to the Suncoast Shores.  I don’t know for just  how long a period of time that it will be, that we will have to continue to deliver the truth to a highly over-sensitized consumer population.

Perhaps it’s the fact that the consumer would expect us to expound on the best and ignore the worst.   I am still some what amazed though.  All people would have to do is focus on simple and basic geography.  If they just take out a Florida map and opened it so they can see the entire state, it wouldn’t take too long for some of them to realize that Florida is some 800 miles long, for north to south and the Suncoast of Southwest Florida is 600 miles or so from where there has been any infiltration of oil into the environment.   I guess that it is just too easy to listen to the news media and continue to be misled –  all for the sake of sensationalism.

I have an idea!  Why not take a minute and watch and listen to an expert on Gulf currents and history of this area and absorb a little reality with regard to Southwest Florida and the OIL Fiasco.  Please click on this URL and you will be taken to Fox News and a video  interview covering this exact subject.   The Link is as Follows:

Is SWFL Really in a Protected Bubble from the Oil?

I hope that gave you some piece of mind and at least a little self assurance that it is definitely OK to make your reservations for sunny and beautiful  Florida.

Don’t Wait – Now is the Time!

For the “What it’s Worth File”.   The beaches are waiting, hotel rooms are available and the fishing is Fantastic.  Amidst all this, we all  need to make a living, so make those plans to visit in preperation for a future relocation to Paradise.  Call me – I’ll be glad to help!

Red Lobster affected by Gulf Oil Spill

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

Ameripure, a Franklin, LA oyster processing plant has closed it’s doors due to the oil spill negatively impacting their oyster beds.  The plant closure will likely last sometime until this fall.  Ameripure is Red Lobster’s sole oyster supplier and as such, has stopped providing Red Lobster with any oysters.  Red Lobster, a Dardon Restaurant, says it has enough oysters to last for a couple of weeks and then will take them off the menu.  Mr. Rich Jeffers, a Darden spokesman says that oysters make up only a small portion of Red Lobster’s menu.
