Neighborhood and Community Information
What’s so great about Mercer Island?
Convenience:Just 10 minutes away from Seattle, with its wonderful visual arts, and world-class ballet, opera, symphony, and theatre. Another 10 minutes away, to the east, is the thriving community of Bellevue with so much to offer in the way of fine dining, and world class shopping.
Schools: Our public schools have historically been, and continue to be, among the best in the Country. You’ll find all the information you need when you click on “Area Info”, and then on “Schools”.
We have more parks and trails per capita than any other city in the area, and we have three fantastic public beaches: Our huge Luther Burbank park and beach in the northend, beautiful Groveland Beach mid-Island on the west side, and Clarke Beach on the southeast shore.
We also have three amazing private clubs (available only to Mercer Islanders): Mercerwood Shore Club, with moorage, tennis, pool, and picnic facilites; Mercer Island Country Club with regulation pool, and indoor + outdoor tennis courts, barbeque/picnic area, saunas, and snack bar; and the picturesque Mercer Island Beach Club boasts moorage, sandy beach, play equipment, pool, picnic facilities, tennis, and many social activities for all ages.
We have activities here that cater to every age group. We have a wonderful preschool association; an active PTA; our Women’s Club for all the women on the Island gives newcomers an instant entree to a group of friends; our retirees have a very active Seniors group; plus we have “Probus”–our club for retired professionals and business people to keep them informed.
There is so much more I can tell you about our very special Island. Please call, text or email me if you want to get the feeling of what it’s like to live here. Or let me know if you would like to be listed here. Thank you – I look forward to hearing from you!
