Skip Trowel Texture Over Wallpaper

Monday, July 26th, 2010

Home Sellers Realty Check: 99.9% of Home Buyers do not like your wallpaper – it’s out of style.   What’s In? Removing the wallpaper or skip trowel  texture over the wallpaper. Styles are constantly changing and home buyers feel the need to own “what’s in”.

If you are considering removing the wallpaper, check out the steam drywall removing tools you can rent – like from Home Depot or Lowes.

If removing the wallpaper causes the drywall paper to be torn, skip trowel texture seems to be a popular fix.

Don’t know what Skip Trowel Texture is?  Simply Google it and look at the images.   Watered down drywall mud and a trowel!

Just remember, in 10 years, Skip Trowel Texture will probably be “out of style” and who knows, maybe wallpaper will be having a come back!

As long as olive colored toilets stay out of style forever. : )

Enjoy your home projects!

Kitchen Remodels in The Colony Texas

Sunday, July 25th, 2010

The explosion of remodeling shows on HGTV has whetted some Colony Texas Homeowner’s appetite for updated rooms with the latest furnishings, appliances and color schemes.  I am pleasantly suprised by some of the 1970′s Fox & Jacob Homes getting full kitchen renovations.

Kitchen remodels are among the most popular, according to a report in the just-published August issue of Consumer Reports and online at consumerreports.org. And the economic slowdown means there are outstanding deals on everything from cooktops to countertops. It also means kitchen designers and building contractors are eager for work and willing to negotiate.

When planning a remodel, determining your budget is one of the first steps. The National Kitchen & Bath Association calculates the average kitchen remodel costs between 10 percent and 20 percent of the home’s value. But obviously, the extent of the makeover determines its cost.

Enjoy your kitchen!
