When you are trying to sell your home there are a few things to keep in mind. First, you need to realize that you may not be able to get the asking price for your home that you may think is fair. Many homeowners either put a lot of equity into their homes or have a lot of sentimental value attached to it because they have lived there for so long. These homeowners often ask too much for their home based on these personal aspects and do not take into consideration the business end of it.

Two of the main things that determine the value of a home are things that are out of the homeowners control. Those are the value of other homes in the neighborhood and the overall economy of the city where the home is at. Your home may have been your personal investment through the years, but when you want to sell it then it turns into a business deal and you have to look at it as such. Otherwise you may be sorely disappointed when your real estate agent comes back to you saying this is how much your home is really worth.
