Why I wanted to move to Austin

Let’s face it, Austin is cool! Whenever I tell anyone I’m from Austin, they know about it, and have either been here, or want to move here.

Austin is a city where you can still find ‘old hippies’ having a cup of “Jo” next to young hippies, hipsters, barely awake musicians, actors, film-makers and businessmen all at the same spot on South Congress.

Austin is a city where you can dress up for dinner and then walk to the Tiniest Bar in Texas or the Mean Eyed Cat for some outdoor music and a beer…and still fit in.

Bagels with cream cheese and lox? Got ‘em.

Excellent BBQ and ice cold beer? Got lots of it.

The finest Tex-Mex ever…pick one, I dare ya! We’ve got upscale, down-home or south of the border style. Manuel’s, Fonda San Miguel, Vivo, El Chile, Maudies, Trudy’s, Chuy’s with it’s Mil Pescado smimming overhead.  Those are just the ones I’ve eaten at recently!

Want healthy drive-thru hamburgers and fries, with a blended milkshake? We have that too, at P. Terry’s.

And sushi…I know that Uchi isn’t Japa

nese for Heaven…but it should be! And there are many more good  – no, great – places for seafood and sushi. We, finally, have no shortage of creative and delicious restaurants in this city! It’s picking one that’s the problem!

If you’re inclined to want to work off all of that great food, we have miles of jogging trails throughout our city and along our beautiful river. There are gyms everywhere (it’s hot here, and people like wear less clothes) even a few chic gyms right in the heart of the city.

Fly Fishing

There’s the flagship Whole Foods Market…where it all began.

We have shopping, and businesses, arts and theatres and libraries downtown! We have jobs to go to and homes to come home to.

Many different neighborhoods all with their own flair; from uptown to “get out of town!”

Close-in cute old neighborhoods, beautiful new neighborhoods minutes from downtown. There are parks, greenbelts. There is an environmentally aware community of people of all different races, cultures, and economic backgrounds coming together to work, dine, party, govern and “keep Austin weird.”

We are the seat of Texas government and the home of UT’s Bevo.

We are a sparkling jewel, deep in the heart of Texas.

That’s why I would want to move to Austin, if I didn’t live here.

Buying a House in Austin, TX

For many people buying a home is the biggest investment they will ever make. This process takes a lot of time and consideration. If you are buying a house in Austin, TX there are a few things you should know. This article will help you in the process of buying a home, from searching for the best home for you to closing the deal.

Narrow Down Your Search

Austin is a very big city that is filled with amazing real estate. You could find any type of home you want in this city. It is important to narrow down your search when looking for a home in such a diverse place. Two of the biggest to pick out is how much you are willing to spend and what size home do you want. Once you have a size and price range in mind, your search will start to become easier.

Schedule Many Open Houses

The best thing to do when buying a home is to take your time. As a buyer you have the right to go and see the homes you have chosen. Do not rush into buying the first house you see, as there may be better deals out there. Take your time and look at as many homes as it takes. You want to be able to compare different houses before you make the final decision.

Closing the Sale

Once you picked out the home that you are satisfied with it is time to close the deal. You should put in an offer at least a few thousand less than the asking price. Make sure you do your research about the community and what the homes around it are going for. You may be able to get quite a discount if you do your homework. After following these simple steps you will soon be able to move into your new home.
