Want more space in your next home: Strategies to make sure that goal is attained
By: Katie Kirk: The Kirk-Holton Team
Spring has sprung and many buyers are out and about previewing homes at open houses, making appointments with their agent to view property…with the hope that they will find the property that is the right fit. So let’s explore one of the main reasons why buyers are making the move. One of the main reasons people move is because they want more space. This is a pretty straight forward, practical reason to move on from your current property and into a new home. Growing families, newly married couples, even single individuals can decide that the current home no longer fits their needs and they now require more space. Be sure to identify what exactly more space means to you as a buyer. Is it that you need more closet space? More living space? A bigger kitchen? Make note of exactly what it is that you intend to find in the new home and make sure you are not getting side tracked. It is easy to get excited about all of the other features a house may offer, you move in and then realize your original needs for more space are not being met.
There is a lot of inventory so be sure you see the majority of homes available in your area and price range, compare and contrast, then determine which is the best fit based on your original reason to move. Again, searching for a new home is an exciting and sometimes overwhelming process. With so many homes on the market be sure you keep your goals as a buyer clear as to why you are moving in the first place. When you find that one property that you want to write a contract on, ask yourself if is fits the original needs you identified prior to the search process.
