Buying a Home in Ogden? View a Video of Utah

Thursday, October 28th, 2010

I ran across a wonderful video of Utah today on YouTube and wanted to share.  It’s title, “Who We Are” A Tribute to the Spirit of Utah.

For those of you out of state, the video is inviting.  Ogden is 30 miles north of Salt Lake City nestled between Ben Lomand Peak and Mount Ogden Peak.   We had a spectacular October with daytime temperatures near the 70′s up until last Thursday.  As usual, the weather changed quickly and snow tops these peaks today.

Ogden is 30-40 minutes from Utah Jazz games and Temple Square, home of Weber State University and Hill Air Force Base , hosts films from Sundance Film Festival each January, 20 minutes from Willard Bay and Pineview Reservoir for summer sports and  approximately 35 minutes from Wolf Mountain, Powder Mountain and Snow Basin for winter sports.   Ogden is accomodated by UTA FrontRunner Commuter Rail and UTA bus services.  These are just a few of Ogden’s many ammenities.

After viewing the video, I would love to know what you think.   Enjoy!!

Spring Along the Wasatch Front

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

I just needed to blog about my jog the other day.  I try to miss the rain…but not that day.  I started out in the morning and decided to take a jacket and I was glad I did.  About 20 minutes later, the dark clouds turned into a down pour.  My dog and  I were soaked.  I looked at the clouds again in the west and they seemed to be disappearing, so I decided to keep jogging.  Twenty minutes later, the sun was shining.  By the time we got back home, I was almost dry but the dog was still soaked.  It was the funnest day I had ever jogged.

Below are some horses enjoying a very lazy spring day.  Doesn’t get better than that!

It’s Lawn Care Time Along the Wasatch Front

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

My good friend, Gary Boyer, sent me some tips that I would like to share:

  • Your lawn should be aerated regularly to break up any compacted soil to enable oxygen, water, and nutrients to penetrate deeper for healthy root growth.

  • Water before sunrise and no wind. Make sure your lawn receives even water coverage to avoid dry spots which eventually will produce unsightly brown spots.

  • Fertilize throughout the year using organic and natural lawn fertilizer.

  • Mow lawn when the grass is dry. Keep grass long  when temperatures are high. Taller grass grows more slowly and shades the roots which reduces the amount of water needed.

  • If bare spots occur, thatch and cover with compost or topsoil.  Apply a natural oil conditioner to promote healthy plant growth and sprinkle with seeds and keep well watered until growth is seen.
PS–Yea spring, even if it rains in the valley and snows in the mountains!

Spring Storm Along the Ogden Wasatch Front

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

Yesterday was a beautiful spring day–daffodils out and birds chirping. In fact when I checked the temperature at 9 PM it was about 68 degrees F.

Last night it stormed a lot.  The dog was nervous because of the howling wind, rain drops were smashing  on the windows and a frog was outside croaking away.

This morning it was peaceful, the air was clean and fresh, birds were chirping again, a beautiful blue sky with the sun shining, and green all over–the grass perked up after several days of sunshine and trees starting to burst with leaves.

So I decided to jog.  As you can see, the weather is ever changing.  Ben Lomand was clear and crisp when I started and 45 minutes later, Mount Ogden was covered with clouds.  By the time we walked down the lane to home, my dog and I were drenched.  However, after cutting some daffodils to bring in the house a few minutes later, the rain stopped.

This afternoon while I was wrting this blog, I took a peak outside again, and where are those mountains?  Can you see them?

And a few minutes later, things are starting to get back to normal–whatever that is along the Wasatch Front in the spring.

PS–Anybody jealous?

Spring Cleanup Time on the Wasatch Front

Saturday, April 17th, 2010

Once again, it is spring clean up time.  And this year it is particularly welcome.  It has been a long and cold winter with sunless days–lots of clouds.  So the sunshine is very welcome.

Along with cleaning out the garage, working in the shop, or weeding and raking  the yard from all the winter conditions, sometimes we think of Earth Day…or even going Green.  Here are a few ideas if you are interested:

Ogden Nature Center April 17-Ogden
Living Planet Aquarium April 17-Salt Lake City
Hogle Zoo April 24-Salt Lake City
Liberty Park April 24, 25-Salt Lake City
Duct Tape Wallet Workshop April 22-Salt Lake City

You might even be considering doing some testing on your home. Radon is a concern now. For more information, here is a link:

When you are cleaning up, you might even find some mold and need to know what to do. Here is a link for that:

Coldwell Banker Tops for Buyers and Sellers in Ogden UT

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

Coldwell Banker sells more homes in the Ogden, UT area.

Be part of a winning team when you are buying or selling real estate.

  • If I was a perspective buyer, I would choose an agent with an inhouse supply of homes.
  • If I was a perspective seller, I would choose an agent with experience helping me price my home correctly.

What I’d really like is an agent I can talk to and will honestly advise me of the ins and outs of buying and selling, even if I don’t want to hear it.  I’d want an agent who is familiar with Ogden and the surrounding areas and loves living here.  I’d want an agent whose  information I can rely on as correct.

I am a  Coldwell Banker agent ~ the market leader ~ assisting you  with your most important asset.

Buyers Who Wait May Lose a Lot

Potential home buyers who delay have a lot to lose.

First-time home buyer and move-up tax credits worth $8,000 and $6,500, respectively, expire April 30. Buyers who qualify get a dollar-for-dollar reduction in taxes or a cash payment if they don’t pay enough taxes to cover the credit.

Other factors that should spur buyers:

Low mortgage rates. If the Federal Reserve stops buying mortgage-backed securities at the end of March, 30-year rates will almost certainly rise to more than 6 percent.

Rising prices. About 30 percent of markets are already experiencing price increases. Prices are falling in 12 percent of markets, says Fiserv (but that only helps if you want to live there).
