Is Moving the Right Thing to Do?

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Somewhere in the back of our minds we want to move or need to move for various reasons or wants.  But, then we think of the economy and buying the dream home and then we think it would be difficult if not impossible.

We know our homes are not worth as much as they were a couple of years ago and we probably won’t get every dollar we would want when we sell.  The same is true of the more expensive home we want but more so.  It has dropped even more.  Higher priced homes have been really reduced.

If we run some figures, we find that by subtracting our equity from the higher price home and using the lower interest rates, we are surprised that it is affordable.   Our home at the lesser price will sell quickly because of the many potential buyers and we will be purchasing a higher priced home at a very good price.

So…moving now is as good as any other time and perhaps even better.  And Ogden and surrounding areas have many homes and neighborhoods to choose from.

As Ogden Realtor, I would love to answer any of your questions or help you with the figures or help you market your home or help you purchase one you’ve had your eye on.  Just let me know.

The Weekend and Real Estate

Friday, September 25th, 2009

What are you doing this weekend?

In Ogden, UT the weather is going to be beautiful…if that is possible.  The forecast is sunny and warm.  A perfect weekend to do anything you want or need to do.

For years, I spent the weekends looking for a new home.  Yes, we would do what “needed” to be done and off in the car we went to find our dream home.  Perry, Liberty, South Ogden and west of Ogden and Roy were all possibilities. This weekend is a perfect weekend if you are thinking of finding a new home.

It is also a perfect weekend to do home improvements–to fix up your home in case you decide you want to sell your home or just get it ready for winter.  It will be warm enough to clean out the garage or clean the carpets or paint.  Whatever needs fixin!

And, of course, don’t forget the yard work or the garden if you have one.  There is always some bush that needs a trim or as I say, a “haircut.”   And…the garden is winding down. We have square foot boxes as well as rows of veggies in the dirt.  I am going to plant carrots and lettuce and spinach in a 4X4 to be covered with a clear plastic cover so after Christmas I can look farward to fresh produce.

If you plan to recreate, ENJOY.  The weather in Ogden will be perfect for hiking or rock climbing or four wheeling or just about anything you want to do outside.  And most outdoor activities are within an hour’s reach.

So…it will be a perfect weekend in Ogden to do whatever you want or “need” to do.

PS.  Don’t forget, if you find that home you want to buy or you want to sell your home, let me know.  I’d love to help you with your dreams!

Buying a Home in the Ogden Area

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

Once again, the Standard-Examiner ran an article from the SKI Magazine referencing Utah ski resorts, particularly Powder Mountain and Snow Basin. It’s title, “Area ski Resorts at Top.” ran in the Wednesday, September 23, 2009, page 13A (www.standard.net).

As you know, Ogden and surrounding areas are less than an hour from these resorts.  SKI Magazine readers gave Powder Mountain high marks in snow quality, value, and weather.  Powder Mountain was pleased to place ninth in overall satisfaction among ski areas in the US and Canada.  Snow Basin’s high marks were in facilities and amenities, which included lifts, service and on-mountain dining.  Snow Basin was pleased the readers reinforced the quality of the mountain and its facilities.

With affordable homes and lower interest rates, Ogden and surrounding areas are excellent locations to purchase a home.  Homes between $100,000 and $249,999 have been selling in three months or less in Weber County.

If you are a skier or sports enthusiast or even if you are not, Ogden is a fine place to purchase a home.  And if you want to sell a home in Ogden or surrounding areas, now is a superb time.  If you have any questions or if you would like to buy or sell in Ogden, just let me know!

Mountain Land for Sale in Ogden, Utah

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Once again, Ogden and the surrounding area is a great place to live and enjoy the outdoor recreation spots.  The Standard Examiner ran an artcle on Wednesday, September 18, 2009 from Park City whose headlines read, “Utah’s Deer Valley No. 1 ski resort.”  Readers of SKI Magazine voted Deer Valley the top resort in North America out of 60 for the third year in a row.

Ogden is an hour from Salt Lake City and surrouding ski resorts and 45 minutes from Powder Mountain, Snow Basin, and Wolf Mountain.   The Huntsville area ia only about 30 minutes away.  With affordable homes on the market and interest rates low, Ogden is an ideal place to live in the winter.

For summer fun, I have listed three mountain land properties in Huntsville on the way to Monte Cristo.  The lots are high on the mountain with beautiful views.  Two are on the south side with a view of Snow Basin and the other faces north with an equally beautiful view of mountain ranges.  This is an affortable getaway only 45 minutes from Ogden.  Bring your trailer and enjoy peace and tranquility.

Lot No. 2 with a slightly different view of Snow Basin

Lot No. 2 with a slightly different view of Snow Basin

Lot No. 3 with a view of the norht mountain ranges

Lot No. 3 with a view of the norht mountain ranges

These are affordable lots between $21,000 and $24,000 on 2 to 2.5 acres.  What a beautiful way to spend a summer not far from Ogden!
