I started planning to retire to Punta Gorda in the mid 70′s and purchased my first property in 1985.  I retired in 1993 and spent the next six years golfing and boating.  I have sold real estate in the Punta Gorda, Port Charlotte and Englewood areas for the past 12 years.

We have lived in Punta Gorda Isles, Burnt Store Meadows and now live in Seminole Lakes Country Club.  It is a gated community offering swimming, golf, and tennis.

Forbes Galleries.htm— listed twenty-five cities from a 499 city sample and described them as “Recession-Resistant”.  Of the twenty-five cities named, six were in Florida and Punta Gorda was one of the six!  It also stated that the average real estate prices, in Punta Gorda had increased 2.3% in the first six months of 2011.  Is this a trend?  Who can say?
