DRIPPING SPRINGS GETS AN H-E-B

Saturday, July 24th, 2010

Yesterday the long awaited H-E-B Grocery Store opened its’ doors in the small town of Dripping Springs.  For months residents of Dripping Springs had been discussing their excitement about H-E-B coming to town so they won’t have to drive to Austin anymore for groceries.  There were several dozen people waiting in line when the doors opening yesterday at 6 am.

Most area residents seem open to the change, but know that H-E-B is bound to bring other big businesses to the area.   The quaitness of Dripping Springs may not last much longer.  Super-S grocery store has faithfully served the area for many years, and it’s uncertain if they will be able to hold up against H-E-B forvery long.   H-E-B’s gas station opened last week and promptly drove down some neighboring gas station prices.

The new H-E-B measures approximately 68,000 square feet.  It is estimated that H-E-B will pay up to $130,000 annually in property taxes to the Dripping Springs ISD, a large portion of those taxes would have surely gone to Austin grocery stores if this store had not opened.  It has also brought many new jobs to town.

I have lived in Dripping Springs for almost 6 years and am personally very happy that H-E-B has come to town.

Plum Creek Subdivision is located near the intersection of FM  2770 and Highway 150 in Kyle, Texas.  It features tree lined streets with darling homes, front porches, and rear entry garages in most cases starting from the low $100′s.  In Plum Creek residents are able to live, work and play in the same community.  Negley Lake is a fun catch and release fishing spot many folks enjoy.  It is next to the 200 acre 18 hole Plum Creek Golf Course.   Plum Creek Golf Club has a great layout in which no two fairways touch. It features four sets of tee boxes, including tees for an advanced golfer which measure over 7,100 yards. They have recently opened a 10,000 SF clubhouse which includes a grill, pavilion, pro shop and  locker rooms.  The community also offers multiple swimming pools, beautiful parks, trails, and a community center.  Plum Creek is the home of Negley Elementary School and Rocking Horse Academy, which is a day care center.  It is in a great location!  Within just a few miles of IH35 for your commute to Austin, San Marcos, San Antonio, etc.  Also nearby is Five Mile Dam where you can enjoy a picnic, swimming in the river, fishing and relaxing.  Plum Creek is close to shopping centers, home improvement stores, a grocery store, pharmacies, doctor offices, a hospital and much more is to be built in the near future.  I’ve had several families move up to larger homes in this subdivision because they liked it so much .  For more information on this darling community just contact me, Jana McCool, REALTOR with RE/MAX Austin Associates at (512) 280-2665 or 964-SOLD.
