Coaching

Friday, September 16th, 2011

The more I coach my children’s youth teams, the more I discover that life is simply coaching different types of people in all kinds of situations. You don’t have to have a whistle around your neck and clipboard in hand to assume the role of a coach.

Another truth to understand about coaching is that coaching principles and concepts are no different when coaching a sales team than they are when coaching a ball team. You always start with the most simple, foundational parts of what you are teaching and build off that. You daily focus on improving on the area(s) deficiencies are found in.

As a parent, you are a coach, as a husband or wife, you are a coach. As a leader of a class, a social group, a cub scout pack, etc… you are a coach. Coaching isn’t a method of pushing someone into doing something they don’t want to do. It is a way of leading , guiding, and pulling someone into and through something they DO want to do.

So, yes, we are all coaches in some form or fashion.

But, when WE are busy coaching…. who do we turn to so we can be coached? Everyone needs a guru. Someone they respect, that can guide them into battle. Find your coach in life. That is as important as being an effective coach for those that look to you for leadership.

After all, complacency is the beginning of the end… isn’t it?

Building a Performance Culture

Thursday, September 15th, 2011

What does Red Realty need to do to Build a performance culture? First, we need to be humble and teachable. Second, everyone has to “buy in” to the big picture.

We know we have the right people on our bus. We are prepared to play at a new level. We have the right “tools”. We are setting our schedule to win championships, not just wins.

Are you/ we humble and teachable? Do you/ we all believe that Red is the best company and are you/ we willing to do the things we need to do to prove that in our market? Ask yourself if you REALLY want a better life for your family that an income increase can provide. If you do, follow the plan that Coach will lay out for you in December and see the results.

You know the saying we use…. You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink? It is the same as Coaches’ saying “You can’t give life support to someone who doesn’t want to live”. Do you want to “live”… just survive, or really live!?

Be proactive, not reactive. Don’t wait for it to come to you… make it come to you! Always ask yourself if what you are doing right now is the best use of your time. Kill the “something is due to me attitude”. Break the norm and eliminate things in your life that keep you sidetracked from the most important things to you.

What area(s) do you need to improve on to go to the next level? Do you have the likeability Factor? Do others feel good about themselves when they are around you? Are you humble or are you a contrarian (you have done that and done it better than they did… always one upping what they say). Are you a “go-giver” as well as a go-getter? Do you help others achieve what they want/ need?

Finally, Remember that the only lasting form of discipline is self discipline and a person can be inspired but not motivated. Let’s all be BOTH!!

Rates are super low!

Thursday, August 11th, 2011

I normally blog about career opportunities in Real Esatte or about Red Realty’s business model. But interest rates have reached a point that I can no longer not write about!

A mortgage lender told me yesterday that he locked a 30 yr, FHA mortgage at 3.875 and a 20 yr at 3.375 fixed! After 20 years in the business, I believe I have seen enough to be qualified to make this statement: Interest rates are incredible low!!! If you are even considering buying, you should be on the phone with a mortgeg lender now!

I believe people tend to be afraid to pull the trigger. They don’t want to buy too soon for fear that the rates will go even lower. That is a fools way of thinking when rates are this low. Don’t let your self lose due to indecision. The time is right and market conditions favor buyers.

In most cases there are other incentives such as seller paid closing costs and the like. Couple that will First Time Buyer funds, VA funds, Rural Housing funds, etc, and you have a receipe for success.

Contact your Red Realty agent today and let them show you how to get into a home with the least amount of money from your own pocket and the best possible payments. Your family deserves it! Call 615-220-2733 or 615-896-2733 today.

Effectuate Change!

Monday, July 25th, 2011

As a company owner, my mind takes me to thoughts of growth and ways to increase our market share. In doing so, I am always reminded that a leaders job is to always to be a catalyst for change. In doing so, we create energy, synergy, attention, and results. It’s hard to be complacent if your mind and body are moving!

In my blog, I write to those who are looking for a career change, a change in attitude, a company change and the like. As I write, I think to myself… I wonder how much leadership happens in other companies? How much time do they spend “executing”?

You see, that is the “race” in the real estate business. The team that executes well, is the team that leads the race and all others chase. Just like in a bike race, the Peleton hangs together at the front of the pack, until the leaders emerge and set a whole new pace. Those who aren’t strong enough find themselves physically and emotionally exhausted and ultimately failing.

Red Realty exceeds in this area. We have built a positive thinking family of Realtors who understand the need to be creative and maintain constant evolution. Our market changes daily and we embrace it! Can your company say the same? Does it’s leadership take pride in finding “new cheese”?

New Construction Sales

Tuesday, May 17th, 2011

The Dayton Business Journal has compiled a database with nearly 50 years worth of new home sales statistics in the United States. The information dates back to 1963 and includes median sale price, average sale price and number of homes sold nationwide for that given year. Current U.S. new home sales are at their lowest mark since 1963.

While most firms are tucking their tails and running from new construction, Red Realty is embracing it. Red started an effort to build their position as the go to company when the market turns. Firms avoid listing new homes for fear of sitting on an inventory of listings that will not sale. Red sees it differently.

Red has put together a builder program to help builders get presold homes and in an effort to build relations between Builders and the Red Realty team. With multiple lots, Red Realty is poised to be the front runner in new home sales.

If you are interested in being on a new home sales team, Red Realty may have a spot for you. If you want to associate with a team that can and will have new construction lots over the years for your builder, Red is the place for you! And finally, if you need a home for your real estate license that will open doors for your business to grow, Red Realty is the place for you. Contact Red today for your confidential interview.

Making a Living in Real Estate

Monday, April 11th, 2011

I was asked, just this morning, if a Realtor can still make a living in the real estate business. The answer is simply YES! This is where the order takers are separated from the workers though. Our market requires you to take your business seriously and strive harder to excel with customer service. Those willing to work and seek business, will find it. You have to diversify, get out of your comfort zone, and learn new things.

If you are in the industry today, you must have handled your business well. You have cut living and business expenses, you have stremlined your systems, you have furthered your education, and you have applied yourself to your trade. Congratulations to you. Now let’s look at what this will mean to you when the market turns.

In the heat of the upswing, our association had 3000 members. Today we are around 1200. That is a 60% reduction in the number of agents over the last few years. If business gets back to a level that is 50% of what it was when the market went south, we should all make great money again since less than half amount of agents will be doing the amount of work previously done by over twice the amount of agents.

Position yourself now to take part in the upswing! If you are with a company that hasn’t positioned itself to be a leader when the market shifts again, consider Red Realty to lead you into a changing market. Call today for a confidential interview. 615-625-7101 direct.

ADD- Do you have it? Does your Company have it?

Tuesday, April 5th, 2011

ADD all the way!

ADD has become a buzz “word”. It is often used to explain problems school aged children have with behavior in schools. Red Realty agents know it as something completely different. It is something we WANT to be afflicted with! That’s right, we seek it!

ADD stands for attitude, determination, and desire. It is one of the base principles that separate Red Realty from the rest of the pack. A smile is infectuous and a smile is a physical expression of your attitude. So infectus smiles can become infectus attitudes. Red Agents practice this concept willfully. How is the attitude at your office? Are you sinking due to the negative attitudes that surround you? Perhaps a change of scenery can resolve that and make you productive again?! Red Realty will provide that positive enviorment.

In the ADD equation, attitude is first, determination and desire can be distantly second and third, but the “A” must come first.

Desire can be thought of as passion, what are you passionate about? Do you do daily what you enjoy doing and are you doing something you pursue with passion? If not, maybe a career change is in your future? Do you enjoy helping people and interacting with them? Real estate offers a break from the hum drum. No day is the same and you aren’t bolted to a desk or cubicle. If you looked in the mirror recently and didn’t like who you see, it’s time to get your groove back. Follow my blog to hear more about your missing mojo!

Determination… this is a hard one for so many, because it means you have to motivate yourself to do something that requires you to get out of your comfort zone. You have to want success and take action to pursue it. Real estate is rewarding on so many levels, but not to those who lake the ADD principles. Are you determined to make a change, to break the mold you have been living in? Is something calling you to challenge yourself to something greater? Call Red Realty for a confidential interview and get started today on effectuating change in your life!!

What is a day in the life of a real estate agent like?

Thursday, February 24th, 2011

Real estate agents are incredibly busy people. They deal with clients on a daily basis, as well as visit new properties that may be sold by a client. Overall, real estate agents value customer service and are typically very available to clients when needed.

The day for a real estate agent typically starts off in the office. An agent may review any documents that will be needed for negotiations or closings later in the day. A real estate agent is responsible for reading through the contracts of any deal between a buyer and seller or landlord and tenant. It is the responsibility of an agent to catch any mistakes that may be in a contract. It is truly a great idea to hire a real estate agent that is diligent in his or her work and approaches documents with a careful analysis.

Later in the day, a real estate agent may meet with clients. A client may wish to sell a home and want the real estate agent to handle the listing process. An agent may then need to market the home online or put ads in a newspaper. A client wishing to buy a home may also approach an agent for help. A real estate agent is truly helpful for clients that wish to buy or sell homes.

A real estate agent also works with clients until the closing process. A real estate agent is able to handle the meetings between a buyer and seller until a home is sold.

If you’re interested in becoming a real estate agent, give me a call and I would love to help you learn more about the benefits of becoming a real estate agent!
