BoomTown Tennessee!!

Friday, September 30th, 2011

Ever wonder why you hear constatnt negative on the news yet you don’t quite see it in your own community? I have and believe others would like some thought on it. Here in Middle Tennessee, we haven’t been as negatively effected as other markets have. We enjoy a good quality of life, good weather, stable job growth, affordable housing, and no state income tax. These are just a few of the factors that make Midlle TN a desierable commodity.

Forbes Magazine tracked how people have been moving over the last few years. Follow this link to look at a graph that shows the inflow of people into Mid Tn. Notice how few are leaving? http://www.forbes.com/2010/06/04/migration-moving-wealthy-interactive-counties-map.html?preload=47149

Now look at this graph http://www.forbes.com/2010/06/04/migration-moving-wealthy-interactive-counties-map.html?preload=36059. People in New York can’t seem to get out fast enough! Very few are moving there.

Nashville Tennessee was ranked #6 in a Forbes study for Best Places for Business and Career. We are also listed as #3 in the city expected to be the next BoomTown! With this information, don’t you think you should look to move your business, family, and career here!? Call James Yates at Red Realty 615-566-2880

Coaching

Friday, September 16th, 2011

The more I coach my children’s youth teams, the more I discover that life is simply coaching different types of people in all kinds of situations. You don’t have to have a whistle around your neck and clipboard in hand to assume the role of a coach.

Another truth to understand about coaching is that coaching principles and concepts are no different when coaching a sales team than they are when coaching a ball team. You always start with the most simple, foundational parts of what you are teaching and build off that. You daily focus on improving on the area(s) deficiencies are found in.

As a parent, you are a coach, as a husband or wife, you are a coach. As a leader of a class, a social group, a cub scout pack, etc… you are a coach. Coaching isn’t a method of pushing someone into doing something they don’t want to do. It is a way of leading , guiding, and pulling someone into and through something they DO want to do.

So, yes, we are all coaches in some form or fashion.

But, when WE are busy coaching…. who do we turn to so we can be coached? Everyone needs a guru. Someone they respect, that can guide them into battle. Find your coach in life. That is as important as being an effective coach for those that look to you for leadership.

After all, complacency is the beginning of the end… isn’t it?

Building a Performance Culture

Thursday, September 15th, 2011

What does Red Realty need to do to Build a performance culture? First, we need to be humble and teachable. Second, everyone has to “buy in” to the big picture.

We know we have the right people on our bus. We are prepared to play at a new level. We have the right “tools”. We are setting our schedule to win championships, not just wins.

Are you/ we humble and teachable? Do you/ we all believe that Red is the best company and are you/ we willing to do the things we need to do to prove that in our market? Ask yourself if you REALLY want a better life for your family that an income increase can provide. If you do, follow the plan that Coach will lay out for you in December and see the results.

You know the saying we use…. You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink? It is the same as Coaches’ saying “You can’t give life support to someone who doesn’t want to live”. Do you want to “live”… just survive, or really live!?

Be proactive, not reactive. Don’t wait for it to come to you… make it come to you! Always ask yourself if what you are doing right now is the best use of your time. Kill the “something is due to me attitude”. Break the norm and eliminate things in your life that keep you sidetracked from the most important things to you.

What area(s) do you need to improve on to go to the next level? Do you have the likeability Factor? Do others feel good about themselves when they are around you? Are you humble or are you a contrarian (you have done that and done it better than they did… always one upping what they say). Are you a “go-giver” as well as a go-getter? Do you help others achieve what they want/ need?

Finally, Remember that the only lasting form of discipline is self discipline and a person can be inspired but not motivated. Let’s all be BOTH!!
