Dallas’ Lakewood is healthy as ever!

Having lived in Lakewood virtually my whole adult life, I have come to really love this part of east Dallas.  There’s no place like home, Dorothy said.  I have to agree.  What do I love the most?  A lack of big-box retail would have to be on top of my list of reasons I love it here.  Nothing wrong with the big boys, but I sure do love my local shops.  My favorites?  Pretty much anything in the Lakewood Village Shopping Center, located in the heart of east Dallas and Lakewood at Abrams Road and Gaston Avenue.  The T Shop, Matt’s Rancho Martinez, the Green Living Store, Scalini’s, The Lakewood Theater, The Fan Man and Times Ten Cellars are just a few of my favorites.  Like to follow what’s happening in Lakewood and East Dallas?  Click HERE to go to the Lakewood daily blog at the Advocate Magazine!

But perhaps the best part is that house prices are very stable here.  We’re one of the top neighborhoods in the country right now, based on growth year over year.  Time on market has somewhat extended, which is a factor of the financing market, mostly.  It’s taking longer to get your loan done.  Plus, the days of low documents or no document closings are all but gone, I’m afraid.

What do you like best about YOUR neighborhood?  Share it!  Let me know.

Until then, stay cool.  Think November…..cool breezes are in our future!

Why Aren’t You Moving to Dallas?

We’ve got the land.  We’ve got the affordable housing prices.  We have outstanding locations to relocate a business.  So why aren’t you coming to Dallas?    In the last real estate downturn, Dallas was a big winner in corporate relocations.   Who, you ask?  Oh, just little companies like Exxon Mobil Corp, JC Penney, Verizon and the likes.

Twenty years later, we still have a ton of great things to offer any company that wants to move.   So why aren’t you coming in droves?  Oh, I know… You can’t sell your home where you live now!   Employers are apparently facing just that right now.  It’s not that they don’t want to come here, its that their employees don’t think they can get out of their home, so they’re turning down relocation packages.

Not fair.  And from a purely selfish perspective, I wish you could sell your home in Detroit or Chicago or New York or L.A.   I want to find you a home here in Big D!

Read more about what Steve Brown of the Dallas Morning News has to say about it and   Click HERE to read the full story.

For now, you relocation candidates you, get your home on the market with a REALTOR®!

I have finally ported over my website address of www.glenkitto.com to this BRAND NEW site!  I’m very excited to finally have my website in a format that I can use and update on a regular basis!  I have to tell you that when I first watched Julie and Julia I had, well, laughed at the thought of writing a blog.  Blogs were for bored people.  Okay, so maybe I’m beginning to change my thinking.  Do I have grand visions of making a movie from my blog one day?  Um, no.  But, with any luck, I’ll gain a few followers at a time.  World domination will follow in due time.…….

I have a great new listing on Turtle Creek.  The address is 3621 Turtle Creek Boulevard, Unit 7J.  This is the largest floorplan at The Beverly and a “J” unit hasn’t traded hands in over 6 years.  Check it out HERE.
