Will I-15 Reconstruction Effect Utah County Home Values?
The freeways are about to become a mess in Utah County. Soon, lanes will be closing, trucks will be slowing traffic, and tempers will flare. Will three years of freeway slow-downs effect our housing prices? Maybe.
When the work is finished, traffic will flow much easier, bottlenecks will be opened up, and a commuter lane will run the length of the Wasatch Front. This should allow more population growth and conseqently, more demand for housing. That will raise the price of homes - its simply the law of supply and demand.
In the mean time, getting on and off the freeway will be difficult, noise and pollution will go up, and relocating home buyers will probably want to avoid Utah County. The same law of supply and demand may cause home prices to stay stagnet for longer than any of us would like.
Keep a good attitude and stay patient and we’ll all make it through this.
