CHOCTAW REAL ESTATE MARKET

EXCITING is the word for what is happening in the real estate market in our greater Choctaw – eastern Oklahoma real estate market. Just since June 1st we have had 99 homes go from Active / Available to Pending / Under Contract! The number of listings that have gone from Pending / Under Contract to Sold / Closed is 10!

Many of the listings that have moved from Active / Available status to Pending / Available were on the market less than 14 days!! This means that there are a great deal of credit worthy buyers out looking for homes!!

The vacant land market is showing improvement also. Since June 1st ten tracts of land ranging in size from 1.27 acres to 158 acres have moved from Active / Available status to Pending / Under Contract. Since June 1sr Pending / Under Contract listings ranging in size from 5 acres to 40 acres have Sold / Closed.

With interest rates still at historic lows now is the perfect time for buyers to go out and find a home. Seller’s can also feel confident that they can ready their homes for sale and take on the task of having their homes on the market with greater opportunity that their efforts will be rewarded with a qualified buyer writing on their home within the current average days on market of 74 days!!

Downsizing Can Really UPSIZE The Enjoyment of Our Lives

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

You know that you are ready for a change. You know that you need to sell your large home, possibly on a large acreage size lot. The huge question looms above you like a dark cloud ‘NOW WHAT?” I have noticed more and more attention being given to downsizing. Not just in the size of our homes but in the amount of things we have surrounding us in those homes.

You may have been an avid collector of vintage kitchen things, shabby chic things, old cars books etc. You too have come to realize that these things can consume our time and energy and we are ready to pare down.

More and more there are articles in magazines, segments on television, books, blogs & the list goes on. Everyone of that certain age (baby boomer;) as well as some of our younger friends has given or will give this careful consideration. We have come to understand that things require attention. They require cleaning, caring, etc. We come to see that a smaller home with less objects cluttering it could actually free us to live a much less stressful life!

You are NOT alone!!! I too am a collector of all things vintage. I love old kitchen, garden, furniture I love things that other’s have used. There is a great deal of satisfaction in thinking about who used these things before I acquired them! I have been giving serious thought about what I really love and what are just things that I have collected. I am going to pare down to those things that I love and find new homes for the rest.

In every area there are professionals that can help you sort through your treasures & pare down. Now is a good time to start giving things to people who have mentioned how much they love something of yours. Come join me on this journey!!! I believe that we will find out that Downsizing can really UPSIZE the enjoyment of our lives. Stay tuned!!!
