Architectural – Malibu,CA

Every now and again you walk into a house and say, “WOW, this place is done right!” The quality, the finishes, just the whole darn thing works. Such is the case with a newly constructed  contemporary home, just a stones throw up Corral, built by Roth Development.

I’ve meandered through The Malibu Lumber Yard (cupcake in hand) and admired the Epi decks and finish on the metal siding – this home has that same ultra cool materials and vibe. Painstaking attention has been paid to every detail, from the custom cabinets to the carrera gold counter tops. The entertaining spaces are exceptional as well, with a stunning outdoor fireplace and a pool complete with inpool umbrella stand.

The area continues to become more and more desirable with some lovely neighboring homes being offered for sale this last year between $6,500,000 and $7,995,000. Look forward to this property coming on the market!

Caffeine and Caravan

I have to say Thursdays are my favorite day of the week.  A grande nonfat latte in one hand and a Caravan sheet in the other…I’m in hog heaven. Where else can you go to work where you have to see beautiful beachfront real estate, chat with friends and be tempted by offerings of tasty treats? Life is good.

Yesterday was no exception, West End Caravan, (a sub-catagory favorite) less traffic, easier parking and I don’t have to try and unravel the deep mysteries of the Malibu Septic Ban.  This was the glorious weather people from the Mid-West see on TV during the Rose Bowl and swear to move to California as soon as the snow plow digs them out. Life is good.

Even though it was a light Caravan, there were  a couple of homes I found interesting:  Light, bright and East Coast charming behind Malibu Cove Colony gates, Cathy Bindley’s beach bunglow listed @ $5.995m. Like a Minnitoka moccasin, you put it on and you’re immediately comfortable. Then Dianne Everett just listed a home in Serra Retreat for $7.750m – a solid house with lovely pool and entertaining area. The grounds and guest house offer great potential where you could really create value and an extraordinary estate.

Proud to say I skipped most of the tasty treats… and life is still good!

Malibu Real Estate – Point Dume

According to MalibuComplete.com, a general development plan for Point Dume published in 1939 identified the area as suitable for a 138-acre golf

Larkspur Lane - Pt Dume

course, polo field, tennis center and hotel retreat. It was sold off in large tracts, but during the war shortages of materials for civilian use slowed development. After the war the original “Pt. Dume Dome” was flattened and subdivided. Trees were planted for the first time. Each lot came with deeded beach rights, an attraction that continues to command premium real estate prices.

Birdview

Properties ranging in price from $10.950m for a beautiful ocean view home on Birdview , to a charming, re-done ranch with pool plans/permits (formerly owned by the musician Beck) on Larkspur Lane for $2.395m., all enjoy the benefits of this lovely neighborhood. Whether it’s close proximity to the beach, Point Dume Marine Science Elementary or a Lilly’s breakfast burrito, Point Dume real estate remains a solid investment.

Even though there’s been a slight uptick in interest rates, we are still at historic lows. Hopefully Sellers will not remain nostalgic for the high flying prices of a few years ago and we’ll head into the new year grounded in the reality of todays market.  Besides, how many times have we had conversations with our neighbors who picked up their homes for a song, back in the day…?
