Is this a good time to consider a real estate career in Punta Gorda, Florida?
If you have ever asked this question of yourself at any time in the past, it is indeed a good time to be asking it again. In these times of economic uncertainty, corporate downsizing, and business cutbacks which combined together, are obviously causing the unemployment rate to increase, the answer is actually a resounding “Yes!”
Why is now a good time? Well, let’s take a look at the facts. Have you looked around lately? Every real estate agent you see will tell you… He or she is busy! This part of the country has become one of the most attractive places to look for an affordably priced home in the United States. In fact, we are getting national attention in the matter!
It is a fact that this marketplace only a few years ago went through a Hurricane and then a frenzy of spiraling real estate values. Then the hammer dropped and we literally reversed course and came to a screeching halt. Along with Cape Coral and Fort Myers, we were among the first to lead the country into the real estate anomaly, and, conversely, after a period of admitted suffering and concern, we are now in the positon leading the country out of it.
Here in Punta Gorda and Coldwell Banker Morris Realty, we are lucky to be a part of this recovery. It isn’t easy. It takes effort! Prices are lower and you will need more sales than you did during the spike to make the same money. But it is clear that business is brisk again. There is room for people to get into this business, and with the right amount of commitment, work ethic, and hard work this is the place to do it!
The one ingredient that is key is the willingness to learn the business, and allow yourself to come out of the comfort zone of corporate structure and learn to be an independent entrepreneur. As a real estate agent you are literally a business within a business. It is a career path where ultimately you are either the cause or the obstacle of your own success.
I will be honest, not everyone is cut out to be responsible for their own success. If you need a great deal of structure and routine, it is probably not going to be a good career choice. “Liking people” isn’t enough. One the other hand “Liking Hard Work” is almost a guarantee of success!
I do believe strongly this area of the country over the next decade will be a great place to live and sell real estate. If you have just become a victim of the economic downturn, think about becoming a part of the profession that is going to bring the country out of it!
