Being a good real estate agent is not easy. You have to possess certain qualities to achieve success in real estate. Some are innate and others can be developed. Here is a list.

1. You have to be a hard worker. Success in real estate is built on work ethic. You have to be willing to show up to the office every day, find clients, and do research about the homes you are buying or selling. They say that a small percentage of agents do the 80% of the business. Those who do the most are those that work the hardest in an efficient way.

2. You have to be a people person. Selling yourself is a big part of success in any sales job. In real estate, potential clients have to buy into the fact that you are going to give them what they want. If potential clients do not trust you, they will not hire you. Let’s face it, real estate agents spend most of their day talking, either on the phone or in person. If you aren’t outgoing this may not be the career for you.

3. You must be persistent. Real estate agents that can face rejection and keep going excel. Potential clients will reject you and your offers made to sellers on behalf of clients will be rejected. You will hear the word “no” much more than you hear the word “yes”. You have to be able to roll with the punches.

4. You have to have a good mentor and work for the right company.
