Growing up in Baldwin, New York, and graduating from Ithaca College, Steven moved to Aspen in 1994 and got his broker’s license that year. His background in owning and operating chains of retail stores and the advertising business allowed him to develop keen people and marketing skills, which translated well into real estate.

Steven formed SDS Real Estate, Inc. in 1994, as a boutique real estate office and ultimately expanded it in 2007 to a mid-sized firm with nineteen brokers and a ground floor corner location in downtown Aspen.

He has been among the most productive members of the Aspen Board of Realtors® with sales dollar volume putting him in the top 3 percent of brokers for 2008 and 2009. He specializes in luxury residential properties and in just the last 2-1/2 years, his sales have exceeded $73,500,000!

Steven’s strong belief in the Aspen marketplace is apparent in his investments in residential and commercial real estate. In addition to his own home in Old Snowmass, Steven has developed and sold a 5,000 square foot spec home, is an investor in three different premier commercial buildings located in downtown Aspen, and owns an income producing condominium in Aspen’s West End.

Outside of work, you can find him snowboarding, mountain and road biking, hiking, running, and working out. His greatest enjoyment, though, is spending time with his daughter, Tatum, and wife, Clare. He is involved in a variety of charities including a national charity for finding a cure for epilepsy and seizures.

Steven especially likes interacting with clients and his broker associates and enjoys the opportunity to use his business acumen and creativity in matching clients to well suited properties. His business include locals, vacation homeowners, investors, celebrities and high net worth clientele, who appreciate that he is readily available and that he streamlines the buying and selling process for them by having a greater understanding of the market nuances. He is well respected by both his clientele and the local brokerage community for his integrity and high standard of excellence.
